About CAFERA
Our Story
We’re Josue L. Castro-Mejia and Daniel Estrada, passionate food scientists with over 15 years of experience in food research across Denmark and the U.S. Our roots run deep in two of Honduras’ coffee-growing regions—Copán and Montaña de la Flor—where our parents and grandparents have cultivated coffee.
For years, we’ve loved sharing roasted beans, sourced directly from the farmers we know and trust, with our family and friends. That interest and curiosity led us to dive deeper into the science of taste and aroma formation through coffee fermentation, collaborating in pilot trials with local growers. Along the way, we witnessed firsthand the dedication that goes into crafting remarkable microlots, but also saw the challenges these growers face in reaching coffee lovers like you with their very own brands and roasts.
That’s why we started CAFERA—to bridge that gap and make exceptional roasted beans more accessible. Our mission is simple: connect you directly to coffee producers around the world so you can experience truly cherry-to-cup coffee. By building a community-driven platform, we’re not only bringing you incredible coffee but also supporting producers through better economic opportunities, coffee research, sustainability efforts, and social development.
