About CAFERA
Our Story
The founders of CAFERA, Josue L. Castro-Mejia and Daniel Estrada, are passionate food scientists with 15+ years of experience in food research in Denmark and the U.S. With roots in the Honduras' coffee-growing regions of Copán and the Montaña de la Flor, they share a deep connection with their family’s coffee tradition. For years, Josue and Daniel have enjoyed sharing roasted beans sourced directly from the coffee-growers with family and friends, evolving gradually into research on taste and aroma formation through coffee fermentation in collaboration with local producers.
Having observed the dedication of producers in creating remarkable microlots and recognizing the limitations of the current supply chain, we make exceptional roasted beans accesible to everyday consumers.
CAFERA starts with a desire to give coffee lovers the opportunity to buy farm-to-cup from coffee producers globally. We firmly believe that developing a community-driven platform can greatly benefit the producers and consumers alike, while also fostering positive impacts on social development, education, coffee research, economic benefits, and sustainability for everyone.

Price to your door
By building a strong community, we have established partnerships with select shipping companies to ensure fast pickup directly from the coffee farmer and delivery to your door. CAFERA takes care of all the practical aspects (e.g., insurance and transport of the purchased goods). The price you see for a coffee includes everything up to your door.
Yours and the farmer's good price
Having CAFERA as a partner, farmers don't need to sell their coffees to local middlemen or auctions. Instead, they can focus on everything they are really good at and passionate about. Thus, when we source coffee together as a community and directly from the producer, you are basically buying as an importer, CAFERA takes care of the logistics, and you enjoy a closer farm-to-cup brew.
